Kimimila is the Lakota word for butterfly. This piece was created using butterfly wing patterns from butterflies that are native to South Dakota. This piece was only pulled off with the help of my youth assistant Covain. This piece was also inspired by the incredible work of fellow Lakota Artist Kevin Pourier. The Butterfly on the end of the mural was directly inspired by a parfleche in the Lakota Cultural Center in Eagle Butte.
